Secretions of the interaural gland contain information about individuality and colony membership in the Bechstein's bat
Article Abstract:
Research has shown that bats use scent to communicate, so further research was conducted hoping to determine if facial interaural gland secretions helped bats recognize individuals and colonies. Results indicate that while female bats might use such secretions for recognition, they cannot determine kinship directly from the secretions.

Use of vision in prey detection by brown long-eared bats, Plecotus auritus
Article Abstract:
The ability of brown long-eared bats that make use of visual cues when searching for food is investigated. By presenting four bats with different sensory cues, it was shown that the bats preferred situations where both sonar cues and visual cues were available and visual information was more important than sonar cues.

A Comparative Analysis of Specialization and Extinction Risk in Temperate-Zone Bats
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that habitat specialization, rather than narrow dietary niche breadth, influences temperate-zone bat extinction risk. The role of wing morphology in foraging strategy is also discussed.
