Seeking wisdom in innate immunity: obsolescent - such was once the view of the innate immune system
Article Abstract:
The acquired immune system produces clones of B and T lymphocytes and acquired immunity appeared with the evolution of vertebrates. Prior to this, innate immune systems successfully defended invertebrates and plants from microbial infections. There are several ways that innate immunity communicates its biological antigen evaluation to acquired immunity and the interpretation of a 'second signal' moves the emphasis in immunology.
