Sex-specific selection on time to remate in Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
The correlated response of mating frequency by males to artificial selection for remating frequency for female Drosophila melanogaster was investigated using artificially selected population of females with fast or slow time to remate. Results reveal a direct response to selection for time to remating among females in both selection regimes. Correlated responses were observed only in females selected for faster time to remate. Similar responses were absent among males.

Sexual conflict as fuel for evolution
Article Abstract:
A study of Drosophila shows that sexual conflict may lead to evolution of species. The performance of the adapting males with the target females is better than the control males after only 41 generations of selection and they produce more male progeny. The adapting males mate successfully with already-mated females and prevent these females from producing offspring by later mates.

Cost of mating in Drosophila melanogaster females is mediated by male accessory gland products
Article Abstract:
The seminal fluids originating from the cells of male accessory glands of Drosophila melanogaster is the primary cause for the short life span of female Drosophila after mating. The seminal fluids which cause the death of the female do not have sperms. The fluids increase the egg laying capacity of the females and reduce their ability to live for longer periods of time.
