Silk-like secretion from tarantula feet
Article Abstract:
Scientists demonstrate that zebra tarantulas from Costa Rica secrete silk from their feet in addition to that spun from specialized structures known as abdominal spinnerets, to provide adhesion during locomotion, enabling them to cling to smooth vertical surfaces. The new discovery that spiderEs feet produce silk presents a new perspective on the origin and diversification of spider silk.

A rotation in light's electric-field vector can change the light's frequency and the rarely encountered rotational Doppler effect is seen in the laboratories. The rotational Doppler effect is interesting because the spin and orbital components of the angular momentum are indistinguishable in this case, whereas the total angular momentum of the light beam that is crucial.
