Singapore pulls plug on US collaboration
Article Abstract:
The decision of the Singapore government to shutdown an international medical research facility with US collaboration, namely the Division of Biomedical Sciences, John Hopkins Medicine in Singapore, has shocked universities and research institutes collaborating with Singapore. The decision, based on the failure of John Hopkins to meet key performance requirements in the contract, has led other collaborators to seek clarity of the required performance indicators of their ventures.

Magical mantle tour
Article Abstract:
A group led by Kei Hirose at the Tokyo Institute of Technology reported that they reproduced the high pressures and temperatures of the Earth's lowermost mantle in the laboratory. Planetary experts are reexamining some quirks of Earth's rotation in light of the 'post-perovskite' discovery and are even thinking about how it could explain features of other planets.
