Stimulating brain but not mind
Article Abstract:
Several researchers have designed an experiment that suggests that visual awareness occurs at a higher stage than orientation-specific adaptation. The experiment involves the projection of a master image, oriented either horizontally or vertically, which is then slowly masked by other images. Subjects were unable to determine the original orientation of the master image. The results of the experiment support earlier assertions that the neural correlate of awareness lies beyond the V1 neurons.

Interocular rivalry revealed in the human cortical blind-spot representation
Article Abstract:
Research exploring the rivalry between the human eyes in perceiving monocular images is presented. On the basis of the research, it is suggested that interocular rivalry may be responsible for the formation and selection of conscious visual information.
