Straight-line movement and competitive mate searching in prairie rattlesnakes, Crotalus viridis viridis
Article Abstract:
Male prairie rattlesnakes have a brief mating period to find females that are scarce and unpredictable distributed over a wide area. Males that travel in straight lines are more successful in mating than those that travel in less straight lines. Males are rarely seen fighting and their body mass or the length of their snouts or vents do not seem to affect their success in mating. Males' mating success apears to be affected by a range of factors.

Sympatric rattlesnakes with contrasting mating systems show differences in seasonal patterns of plasma sex steroids
Article Abstract:
A report on seasonal profiles of plasma sex steroid in sympatric populations of the western diamond-backed rattlesnake, Crotalus atrox and the black-tailed rattlesnake, Crotalus molossus is presented. The possible scenario for the evolution of the different mating seasons in the two species of sympatric rattlesnakes is discussed.

Watching fights does not alter a bystander's response towards naive conspecifics in male green swordtail fish, Xiphophorus helleri
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to determine whether watching fights elicits general changes in bystander aggression levels in Xiphophorus helleri. The results suggest that comparative approaches to understanding networking phenomena might be productive.
