Survival and harvest vulnerability of elk in the Cascade Range of Washington
Article Abstract:
Research on Cervus elaphus elk in Washington's Cascade Range indicates that species vulnerability to hunting is significantly impacted by the presence and number of open roads, with higher mortalities occurring in conjunction with higher road densities. Studies were conducted on adult female, adult male, and subadult male elk from 1992 to 1999.
