Swift fox use of black-tailed prairie dog towns in northwest Texas
Article Abstract:
Swift foxes were monitored in private ranches in northwest Texas to test if prairie dog towns provide important habitat for prairie species including swift foxes. The findings reveal that prairie dog towns do not appear to provide important habitat for swift foxes in northwest Texas or other similar sites because prairie dogs are not a significant source of food for swift foxes.

Variation in mating system and group structure in two populations of swift foxes, Vulpes velox
Article Abstract:
The effects of differences in population density on the mating system and group structure were examined by studying 26 reproductive groups of swift foxes, Vulpes velox. The results indicate that the variations in the social systems are also related to top-down forces like predation, and displacement by larger competitor.

Impacts of coyotes on swift foxes in northwestern Texas
Article Abstract:
Research demonstrates that swift fox (Vulpes velox) populations benefit when coyote (Canis latrans) numbers are lower, primarily due to reduced predation. Studies were conducted on two study sites in Texas between 1998 and 2000.
