Teaming With Wildlife: legislation offers hope for preventing more listings

Article Abstract:

The Teaming With Wildlife (TWW) initiative, previously known as the Fish and Wildlife Diversity Funding Initiative, has focused national attention in the US on the challenges facing non-game fish and wildlife. TWW aims to address state non-game wildlife funding deficits and to attract funding for wildlife-related outdoor leisure activities and conservation education. The TWW Steering Committee will give particular attention to moulding House and Senate bills relating to wildlife conservation into a form that will bring as many benefits as possible.

Article Abstract:

The Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) serves as proof that Congress understood the limits of the US' wildlife resources and the importance of preserving biodiversity for future generations. ESA states that various wildlife species have become extinct due to economic growth and development. These species have aesthetic, ecological, educational, historical, recreational and scientific value for the US and the American people.
