Terms of access to cloned mice comes under researchers' fire
Article Abstract:
A gene-trapping technology is the focus of a dispute about access to proprietary molecular tools. Lexicon Genetics scientists reported the creation of a library of mouse embryonic stem cells, called Omnibank, claiming that they would distributed cell clones to requesting investigators for non-commercial research. However researchers from universities and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) were blocked from receiving the cell line, as Lexicon was seeking at least $15,000, as well as 'reach-though rights' to commercial products from the cells.

Researchers 'duped' over use of embryos without consent
Article Abstract:
The infertility research imbroglio involving the University of California at San Diego, the University of California at Irvine and infertility specialist Ricardo H. Asch deepened upon discovery that viable human eggs and embryos taken from Asch's patients have been used by a research team at the University of Wisconsin. KPMG Peat Marwick auditors found that at least 21 viable inseminated eggs and 3 embryos were given to researcher Gerald Schatten. Evidence shows that Schatten was apparently deceived by Asch.
