The Ter mutation in the dead end gene causes germ cell loss and testicular germ cell tumours
Article Abstract:
Ter is a potent modifier of spontaneous testicular germ cell tumour (TGCT) susceptibility in the 129 family of inbred strains and it markedly increases TGCT incidence in 129-Ter males. A report of the positional cloning of Ter is presented which reveals a point mutation reponsible for introducing termination codon in the mouse orthologue of the Zebrafish dead end gene.

Copies count
Article Abstract:
Some genes in human have more than one copy, and the copy number variation is a major type of genetic variation among humans, and among inbred strains among humans. This copy number variants might contribute significantly to the inter-individual variation seen in response to the to drugs, immune defense and susceptibility to certain diseases.

Megabase deletions of gene deserts results in viable mice
Article Abstract:
Some large-scale deletions of the non-coding DNA referred to as gene deserts can be well tolerated by an organism are discussed. Further detailed analysis of the expression of the multiple genes bracketing the deletions revealed only minor expression differences in homozygous deletion and wild-type mice.
