The nature of the solar wind
Article Abstract:
The soalr wind contains a continuous spectra of modes rather than discrete modes, as the spectra of a one-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic wave with a small amplitude is continuous. Some have posited that solar wind contains discrete modes related to modes of gravity and internal pressure. However, the discrete modes cannot survive in the wind due to spatio-temporal changes in the Sun's surface and atmosphere. High frequencies are removed from the spectrum by the steepening and nonlinear interactions during the evolution of the solar wind. Compressions and rarefactions that widen the frequency of the solar spectrum remove the high Q-modes.

Rapid acceleration of the polar solar wind
Article Abstract:
Solar activity observations at the three-station EISCAT observatory in northern Scandinavia were analyzed. Data indicated that the acceleration of the polar solar wind is almost complete by 10R. This suggests that the acceleration of the solar wind and the heating of the solar corona occur in almost the same region. The underlying mechanisms of both activities could ten be strongly related.
