The politics of breathing
Article Abstract:
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made a ruling on air pollution that has contradicted the recommendations of its own scientists and a panel of external experts. Although many groups, from the National Resources Defense Council to the American Lung Association, have claimed that science has supported their case, such a decision stems from other external factors too such as cost, in reaching different figures for the acceptable level of pollution.
