The structure of Venus' middle atmosphere and ionosphere
Article Abstract:
The radio-sounding results from first Venus Express Radio Science (VeRa) occultation season are reported. Findings provide insight into temperature at upper cloud-deck altitudes, day-night temperature differences in the southern middle atmosphere, and day-to-day changes in Venus' ionosphere.

Lightning on Venus inferred from whistler-mode waves in the ionosphere
Article Abstract:
The observations of Venus' ionosphere that reveal strong, circularly polarized, electro-magnetic waves with frequencies near 100 Hz are reported. The waves appear as burst of radiations and exhibit properties of whistler-mode signals generated by lightning discharges in Venus' clouds.

Gigantic jets between a thundercloud and the ionosphere
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on gigantic jets linking thunderclouds and ionosphere. Results demonstrate the generation of extremely-low-frequency waves by negative cloud-to-ionosphere discharges which reduce the electric potential between ionosphere and ground.
