Research to benefit from cheaper Landsat images
Article Abstract:
The US government is planning to offer new Landsat images of Earth at low prices. The US space agency NASA and the US Geological Survey (USGS) will share responsibility for operating the satellite initially, and routine image collection is expected to being by August. Landsat 7 will return multispectral images, with the addition of a panchromatic channel with a resolution of 15 metres and a thermal infrared channel with a resolution of 60 metres.
