The x-linked lymphoproliferative-disease gene product SAP regulates signals induced through the co-receptor SLAM
Article Abstract:
Signalling lymphocyte-activation molecule (SLAM) is a glycosylated type-I transmembrane protein present on the surface of B and T cells. It is shown that a T-cell specific SLAM associated protein (SAP), containing an SH2 domain and a short tail, blocks recruitment of the SH2-domain containing signal transduction molecule SHP-2 to a SLAM cytoplasmic region docking site. Absence of the SAP inhibitor in XLP patients has an effect on T/B cell interactions, resulting in inability to control B-cell proliferation caused by Epstein-Barr viruses.

Oceanic signals in observed motions of the Earth's pole of rotation
Article Abstract:
A nearly global ocean model shows that oceanic circulation and mass-field variability play a significant part in the excitation of seasonal to fortnightly polar motion. The inclusion of the oceanic series contributes substantial power to that available from atmospheric excitation alone, and also brings greatly improved coherence with the polar motion excitation identified, for the frequency bands resolved. This research highlights the high quality of the ocean model and its atmospheric surface forcing fields.
