Theodore H. Bullock (1915-2005)
Article Abstract:
Theodore Holmes Bullock, one of the greatest neurobiologists of the twentieth century, was also a humanist and a teacher who encouraged broad education and independence. He was known for pioneering a reductionist approach to explore the evolution and the mechanism of nervous systems, the discovery of two new senses in animals and his research in the role of direct current and low-frequency electric fields in intercellular communication in the nervous system.

Protecting prickly pear cactus
Article Abstract:
The US Department of Agriculture's researchers conducted successful field trials, aiming to eradicate the cactus moth from Alabama's Dauphin Island. This would help in restricting the growth of invasive species and protect more than 80 species of prickly pear cactus that live in the southwestern US and Mexico.
