Truce likely in battle over 'DNA-chip' patent rights
Article Abstract:
A dispute between scientist Ed Southern and biotechnology firm Affymetrix regarding European patent rights over the 'DNA-chips' genome technology is expected to be settled to avoid the elevation of the case in court. This technology, which refers to the use of oligonucleotide arrays as a testing platform, was developed by Southern but is being questioned by Affymetrix for lack of novelty and originality.

Europe is split over combining defence research
Article Abstract:
Britain is against France and Germany on the issue of combining European defense research.
