US cancer institute shifts funds to external research
Article Abstract:
The US National Cancer Institute (NCI) has voted to increase its financing to outside researches. One move towards this end was the appropriation of $70 million to external investigations starting Oct. 1995. Richard Klausner, the institute's new director and author of the plan, has already initiated funding for basic and clinical research by outside investigators. He elaborated that the money shelled out for the said research ventures did not come from limiting contract researches of the institute but more on restructuring so as to enhance productivity.
