UV-B radiation and soil microbial communities
Article Abstract:
The finding that the exposure of a subartic heath ecosystem to increased ultraviolet-B (UV-B) irradiation causes a drastic decline in the mass ratio of C: N in soil microorganisms, which would in turn increase the amount of nitrogen stored in the microbial biomass and possibly alter the availability of nitrogen to plants is analyzed. The research revealed that under identical experimental condition, an increased UV-B irradiation could affect both the community structure and amount of nitrogen held with in the microbial mass.

Myocardin and ternary complex factors compete for SRF to control smooth muscle gene expression
Article Abstract:
The way extracellular signals enable serum response factor (SRF) to select between muscle-specific and growth-regulated genes are investigated. It is observed that by regulating the association of SRF with antagonistic cofactors growth and developmental signals modulate smooth muscle gene expression.

Patches for wounded muscle
Article Abstract:
The damaging effects of stresses and strains imposed on certain cells on the muscle membrane are studied. The finding indicated the presence of a protein called dysferlin as a new component of the mechanism for resealing the holes, and thus healing the muscle membrane.
