Ed Blotzer has spent 20 active years prosecuting violations of animal welfare laws and educating the public regarding animal care. Blotzer founded the independent Animal Care and Welfare/SPCA organization in 1970. Today, Boltzer still sends newsletters that educate people on animal care.

Gerda Deterer is known as the Birdwoman of Baltimore, MD. The 58-year-old, bird lover is the prime mover behind Wild Bird Rescue Inc, a group consisting of 50 volunteers committed to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured birds and other small species of wildlife.
