Variants in common disease
Article Abstract:
A genome-wide-association (GWA) study is used to find the genetic link between a very common disease like type 2 diabetes, which is rising in prevalence throughout the world, and factors such as diet. Results suggest that the most significant novel associations were to a variant predicted to alter the protein product encoded by a gene and thus shown strong functional effect.

A genome-wide association study identifies novel risk loci for type 2 diabetes
Article Abstract:
A genome-wide association (GWA) study is conducted to identify the genetic factors in the prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The identification of the casual variants at the genetic loci and their functional consequences has disclosed unexpected players in T2DM pathogenesis and has provided novel mechanisms and targeted therapeutics.

Broad sweep of genome zeroes in on diabetes
Article Abstract:
The geneticists and disease researchers are hoping that the genome-wide association (GWA) studies will help them in identifying the genetic causes of diseases. They believe that the most likely result of the GWA findings will be the diagnostic tests that predicts who will be at high risk of diseases like type 2 diabetes.
