Article Abstract:
The failure of cholesterol-lowering drug torcetrapib associated with high death rates in a late-clinical trial and present cholesterol drug Lipitor bringing the company more than $12 billion in annual revenues losing patent protection in 2011 leaves Pfizer in search of new corporate strategy to deal with the post-blockbuster age. Pfizer was one of the few remaining companies that appeared to be able to manage the mega-blockbuster drugs and presently has 242 products at various stages in its pipeline.
