Working with the Navy in San Diego
Article Abstract:
The Natural Resources Management Branch of the Navy's Southwest Division Facilities Engineering Command in San Diego, CA, has been working with the US Fish and Wildlife Service's Carlsbad, CA, Field Office to manage the rare plant and animal species living on the Dept. of Defense land within the Southwest Division. The partnership's many accomplishments include the construction of artificial nesting platforms for the endangered light-footed clapper rail and an ongoing project to protect the rate Nuttall's lotus from exotic plants that threaten it.

Partnering with the Army in Georgia
Article Abstract:
The Fish and Wildlife Service's (FWS) Brunswick, GA, Ecological Services Field Office has been working with the US Army on projects to protect threatened or endangered species in Georgia. The partnership between the two agencies started when they reached an agreement to complete a survey of at-risk plants and animals at Fort Gordon. This was followed by similar agreements with other military bases, including Fort Benning.
