Like Americans the people in Australia also feel that tax evasion should not be treated as a serious crime. Out of the 1576 Australian respondents surveyed by Prof.Karlinsky only 34% feel that tax cheating is seriously wrong. Conducting public campaign on tax evasion and how it impoverishes the development is suggested.

Product rulings: diligence required
Article Abstract:
The Australia Taxation Office introduced the 'product ruling' in Jun 1998. The product ruling assesses small business investments' tax status when these investments are organized under a prospectus. The product ruling ensure that the tax deduction is approved by the Taxation Office.

Counting the cost of compliance
Article Abstract:
A study shows that the government sales tax (GST) start up costs have increased than what the government had estimated. An increase in the compliance costs of the small business is observed. The impact of tax reforms on tax compliance costs are studied.
