A bacteriophage-like particle from Bartonella bacilliformis
Article Abstract:
Bacteriophage-like particles (BLP) produced by Bartonella spp. are incapable of participating in intraspecies gene transduction. Other properties of BLPs are discussed.

A carboxyl-terminal processing protease gene is located immediately upstream of the invasion-associated locus from Bartonella bacilliformis
Article Abstract:
A Bartonella homologue of the carboxyl-terminal processing proteases gene ctpA was described. The gene was located upstream of the ialA gene and was found to have no direct impact on the erythrocyte-invasion phenotype conferred by ialAB. Its homology to other stress-response processing proteases implied an important role in the survival of Bartonella bacilliformis.

Development of a system for genetic manipulation of Bartonella bacilliformis
Article Abstract:
Researchers report the first successful site-specific mutagenesis in Bartonella bacilliformis. A suicide plasmid was targeted against the gene that produces flagella, which produced non-motile bacteria.
