Effect of temperature on carbon and electron flow and on the archaeal community in methanogenic rice field soil
Article Abstract:
Increasing temperatures in rice field soil not only increase methane production but also change carbon and electron flow in the system. The composition of the archaeal community also changes, with high-acetate-requiring Methanosarcinaceae decreasing and Methanosaetaceae increasing.

Carbon isotope fractionation during acetoclastic methanogenesis by Methanosaeta concilii in culture and a lake sediment
Article Abstract:
Isotope fractionation was determined by acetoclastic Methanosaeta spp. in lake sediment, in which members of Methanosaetaceae were detected and Methanosaeta concilii were grown under set conditions to increase knowledge of isotope fractionation by Methanosaeta spp. The results show that two functionally equivalent groups of acetoclastic methanogens, whose biochemical pathways differ, reveal different isotope fractionation and consequently affect isotope modeling.
