Cell migration in cultured cerebral cortical slices
Article Abstract:
Living slices of the developing telencephalon were cultured and the migration of newly generated cortical neurons were tracked to investigate the cellular mechanisms of migration and lamination in the mammalian cerebral cortex. Movement of labeled cells out of the proliferative zone into the cortical plate was observed over the first week of the culture. However, these cells fail to form the tightly clustered laminae characteristic of cells in the intact brain. Instead, the cells were widely distributed throughout the cortical plate and other regions of the cerebral wall.

Gated migration: neurons migrate on but not onto substrates containing s-laminin
Article Abstract:
A study of the effect of extracellular matrix components on the migration of different cell types by observing the migration of ciliary ganglion and NSC-34 neuron hybrid cells on substrates with alternate laminin and laminin - s-laminin stripes coated on them reveals that the entry of cells into s-laminin containing regions is inhibited. The potential of s-laminin to inhibit the entry of cells at the border is eliminated when the adhesive site in s-laminin, LRE, is mutated. Inhibition of cell entry occurs mainly at the borders, indicating a gating mechanism of migration.

Dil analysis of cell migration during Mullerian duct regression
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to confirm if Mullerian duct regression is accompanied by cell migration of ductal epithelial cells and to determine the destination of these cells by observing the migration pattern of Dil-labeled ductal epithelium of male alligator embryos. In vivo and in vitro experiments revealed the migration of epithelial cells out of the duct during regression. Migration occurred faster in the in vitro environment and cells were observed to go to the mesonephric kidneys.
