Development of genetic circuitry exhibiting toggle switch or oscillatory behavior in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
Research describes the development of a genetic clock as a model to understand the molecular basis of oscillations in gene expression and function in living organisms. The genetic clock consists of a promoter region of the glnALG operon with operator sites for the LacI repressor and enhancer sites for activation by NRI activator. Data indicate that the circuitry in which lacI is expressed constitutively functions as a toggle switch.

Cre-ating somatic cell genetic mosaics in the mouse
Article Abstract:
The new method called mosaic analysis with double markers (MADM) allows the generation of such mosaics in mice. The general use of MADM for phenotypic analysis in mice must await construction of reciprocally chimeric reporter genes near the centromere on each of the 19 autosomes and identification of Cre recombinase lines that target minotic precursors or many different tissues and cell types.

Of mice and genome sequence
Article Abstract:
This review discusses how genome information on the laboratory mouse can be used as a model mammalian genetic system serving both a prototype for vertebrate evolution and a model for human biology and disease.
