Development of polyclonal antibodies for detection of aflatoxigenic molds involving culture filtrate and chimeric proteins expressed in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
Culture filtrates and chimeric protein products from apa-2 or ver-1 genes were utilized to develop polyclonal antibodies (PAb) against the aflatoxinogenic strain of Aspergillus parasiticus. The PAbs that were raised against the chimeric protein products of apa-2 and ver-1 genes expressed in Escherichia coli exhibited high specificity for the aflatoxinogenic fungal strain. Furthermore, the antibodies raise against the chimeric fungus proteins exhibited specific immunoreactivity with the native protein of the fungus.

A quantitative method to evaluate neutralizer toxicity against Acanthamoeba castellanii
Article Abstract:
A quantitative evaluation of neutralizer toxicity against Acanthamoeba castellanii reveals that the microtiter method gives a lower viable cell count than that given by the hemacytometer method. The Dey-Engley neutralizing medium fails to toxicate A. castellanii and is utilized for testing contact lens disinfection. This accurate technique comparable to the Page's saline method is effective for neutralizing the antimicrobial agents.
