Distribution and diurnal behavior of Steller's Eiders wintering on the Alaska Peninsula
Article Abstract:
A new study investigates the distribution and activities of Steller's Eiders wintering on a shallow lagoon and a deep-water embayment along the Alaska Peninsula between September 1980 and May 1981. The study shows that during the remigial molt, birds were seen on the lagoon but not on the bay. However, eiders used both sites following completion of molt, although their use of the lagoon was restricted in severe weather. The dominating foraging strategy was synchronous diving.

Breeding biology of the Madagascar Buzzard in the rain forest of the Masoala Peninsula
Article Abstract:
The Madagascar Buzzard has a high breeding density in the rain forest of the Masoala Peninsula, Madagascar, and is sensitive to major habitat modifications. Like other bird species in the area, it breeds between Sep and Jan, which is the driest period of the year. It lays smaller clutches as compared to those of temperate birds. During nesting, there is a division of labor between male and female Madagascar Buzzard.
