Distribution of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) in adult and embryonic mouse retinal explants: presence of the embryonic map, MAP5/1B, in regenerating adult retinal axons
Article Abstract:
The distribution of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) in neurites extending from retinal explants using immunohistochemistry to compare the distribution of MAPs in adult versus embryonic retinal neurites. Using monoclonal antibodies (MAbs), it was shown that adult explants essentially retain their adult distribution of MAPs with one major exception. This exception is that both embryonic and adult retinal explants are strongly immunoreactive for MAbs to MAP5, a MAP prevalent during early neuronal development and absent in most adult neurons.

Transient appearance and localization of a 26-kDa lectin, a novel member of the periplaneta lectin family, in regenerating cockroach leg
Article Abstract:
Purification of a 26-kDa lectin from the hemolymph of American cockroaches (Periplaneta) revealed that the former is a member of the Periplaneta lectin family and plays a major role in the regeneration of cockroach legs. Immunoblot analysis of the samples showed that 26-kDa was only present in the outer part of the the new epidermal cells during the middle stages of regeneration. These results indicate that different lectins are responsible for the various stages of development.

Subdividing cell populations in the developing limbs of Drosophila: do wing veins and leg segments define units of growth control?
Article Abstract:
The vein and intervein territories in the Drosophila wing develop as semiautonomous units. These small functional units control patterning and growth.
