The transcription factor GATA-3 is necessary and sufficient for Th2 cytokine gene expression in CD4 T cells
Article Abstract:
The expression of GATA-3 in the Th1 and Th2 subsets of CD4 T cells were characterized by complementary DNA (cDNA) subtraction utilizing representational difference analysis (RDA). The cDNA RDA of Th2 and Th1 cells indicated the presence of high levels of GATA-3 transcription factors in the cDNA RDA difference products. The GATA-3 transcription factors was also selectively expressed in differentiating and effector Th2 cells. Furthermore, the transcription factor mediated the expression of all Th2 cytokine genes.

A serum shock induces circadian gene expression in mammalian tissue culture cells
Article Abstract:
Rat-1 fibroblasts or H35 hepatoma cells in culture were shocked with concentrated serum to investigate the expression of genes with oscillating transcription in living animals. Results reveal that serum shock induces the rhythmic expression of rper1 and rper2 and a host of transcription factors with a cycle of 22.5 hours. This rhythmic gene expression lasts for three days and has been found to be similar to the rhythmic genetic expression in the suprachiasmatic nucleus.

A zonal organization of odorant receptor gene expression in the olfactory epithelium
Article Abstract:
The odorant receptor multigene family was used to investigate the presence of spatial codes within the nasal cavity. In situ hybridization experiments were conducted to gain information about the organizational features underlying olfactory information processing. The results demonstrate that the odorant receptor genes are expressed in topographically distinct patterns within the olfactory epithelium.
