The Drosophila HEM-2/NAP1 homolog KETTE controls axonal pathfinding and cytoskeletal organization
Article Abstract:
The Drosophila HEM-2/NAP1 homolog KETTE controls axonal pathfinding and cytoskeletal organization. Researchers screened for mutations affected the organization of the CNS axon pattern and identified more than 20 genes needed for proper migration of midline glial cells. The gene kette has been shown to be necessary for the normal projection of the VUM axons and afterward disrupts glial migration. Axonal projection defects ar found for many other moto- and interneurons. It appears that HEM-2 protein has an important role in cytoskeletal organization in axonal pathfinding.

A homeotic mutation in the trithorax SET domain impedes histone binding
Article Abstract:
A homeotic mutation in the trithorax (TRX) SET domain has been found to impede histone binding and is discussed in this research communication. TRX is a Drosophila SET domain protein necessary for the proper expression of homeotic genes IT binds to core histones and nucleosomes.

Drosophila awd, the homolog of human nm23, regulates FGF receptor levels and functions synergistically with shi/ dynamin during tracheal development
Article Abstract:
The function of the Drosophila homolog of nm23, the awd gene, in cell migration is examined using Drosophila tracheal system as a genetic model. Mutants of shi/dynamin show similar tracheal phenotypes suggesting defects in vevesicle-mediated turnover of FGFR in the awd mutant.
