Fur is involved in manganese-dependent regulation of mntA (sitA) expression in Sinorhizobium meliloti
Article Abstract:
The fur is a transcriptional supervisor, which is a part of the iron based control of the appearance of gene in a lot of bacterias. The information shows a new role for the bacterial fur protein in reconciling the directive for the appearance of gene that is dependent on manganese.

Sinorhizobium melitoli Fur-like (Mur) protein binds a Fur box-like sequence present in the mntA promoter in a manganese-responsive manner
Article Abstract:
The [Mur.sub.Sm] protein binding o the promoter region of the Sinorhizobium melitoli mntA gene was analyzed. Results indicate that two monomers or one dimer, of [Mur.sub.Sm] binds the DNA, however manganese activated [Mur.sub.Sm] binds with low affinity to a canonical Fur box.

Modular broad-host-range expression vectors for single-protein and protein complex purification
Article Abstract:
A set of modular broad-host-range expression vectors was created and vectors were mobilized by conjugation. These tools are useful for protein purification and for studying protein-protein interactions in a range of bacterial species.
