Genetic resource impacts of habitat loss and degradation; reconciling empirical evidence and predicted theory for neotropical trees
Article Abstract:
A simulation study is conducted to verify theoretical studies on change in genetic resources due to loss or degradation in their habitat. Results indicate that studies assessing progeny inbreeding, reproductive output and fitness reveal considerable impact of habitat degradation on genetic change, which supports the theoretical research.

Using mating designs to uncover QTL and the genetic architecture of complex traits
Article Abstract:
The benefits of quantitative trait loci (QTL) analysis and classical diallel analysis is combined by analyzing multiple mapping families that are connected through shared parents. A general strategy for exploring the genetic architecture, as well as the QTL underlying variation in quantitative traits is provided.

Distribution of genomic regions differentiating oak species assessed by QTL detection
Article Abstract:
Detection of quantitative trait loci of pedunculate oak and sessile oak in order to locate genomic regions involved in species differentiation is discussed. It is observed that traits involved in interspecific differentiation of oaks are under polygenic control and widespread in clusters across the genome.
