In vivo (super 13)P nuclear magnetic resonance investigation of tellurite toxicity in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
The physiological state of escherichia coli exposed to tellurite or selenite is compared by using the noninvasive technique of phosphorous-31 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Glucose-fed Escherichia coli HB101 cells containing a normal pUC8 plasmid with no tellurite resistance determinants present or the pTWT100 plasmid which contains the resistance determinants tehAB is studied.

Influence of apple cultivars on inactivation of different strains of Escherichia coli O157:H7 in apple cider by UV irradiation
Article Abstract:
The effect of different apple cultivars upon the UV inactivation of Escherichia coli O157:H7 strains within unfiltered apple cider was studied and presented. Findings of the study reveal that regardless of the apple cultivar used, processed by 14mJ of UV irradiation, a minimum 5-log reduction is achieved for all of the strains of E.coli O157:H7 tested.
