Inducible chitinolytic system of Aspergillus fumigatus
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze the inducible chitinolytic system of Aspergillus fumigatus. Proteins determined from the chitin affinity matrix were electrophoresed on polyacrylamide gells with glycol chitin. Results showed that A. fumigatus secretes large quantities of chitinase under certain growth conditions. Findings also indicated that an array of extracellular chitinolytic enzymes correlated with the range of chitinases determined in intracellular, cell wall and cell surface preparations.

The Aspergillus fumigatus mepB gene encodes an 82 kDa intracellular metalloproteinase structurally related to mammalian thimet oligopeptidases
Article Abstract:
The Aspergillus fumigatus mepB gene was investigated. The gene was cloned, sequenced and it's disrupted effect on A.fumigatus viability and pathogenecity in a mouse model was analyzed. The 82kDa proteinase of A. fumigatus was found to be a member of the thimet oligopeptidase family which suggest its involvement in the intracellular degradation of small peptides with bioactivity or resulting from protein degradation.

Aspergillus fumigatus antigens
Article Abstract:
A study of aspergilloma patients' serum samples shows that Aspergillus fumigatus antigens are found as a group, referred to as cytosolic fraction complex, of four main antigenic bands. The bands are made of several isoforms of acidic glycopeptides and have approximate molecular masses of 90, 60, 40 and 37 kDa. Two-dimensional electrophoresis and Western blotting are used to study the antigens.
