Inheritance of crippled trifoliolate leaves occurring in interracial crosses of common bean and its relationship with hybrid dwarfism
Article Abstract:
The crippled trifoliolate leaf phenotype occurs in interracial crosses between common bean plants, Phaseolus vulgaris, belonging to the races Mesoamerica and Nueva Granada. The trifoliolate leaf crippling is caused by the recessive gene lcr in the presence of either Dl1 or Dl2. The presence of both Dl1 and Dl2 causes a dwarf-lethal or semilethal phenotype and is unaffected by the type of allele at the lcr loci. WA 7807-305 and TY 5578-220 are derived from interracial crosses and show crippled trifoliolate leaves. The genotypes of the two are Dl1 Dl1 dl2 dl2 lcr lcr and dl1 dl1 Dl2 Dl2 lcr lcr respectively.

Genetic marker transmission in early generation common x tepary bean hybrids
Article Abstract:
The transmission of genome from tepary bean to its hybrid with kidney bean was quantified using a defined set of isozyme genes. The first segregating generation was utilized in the investigation of the inheritance of isozymes from 12 distinct enzyme systems. Results reveal the parental generation was heterozygous in 50% of the enzyme loci studied while exhibiting limited homozygosity for tepary alleles in the other 50% of cases investigated.

Inheritance of traingular and ovate bracteoles in common bean
Article Abstract:
Triangular bracteoles are found in Andean common bean, the inheritance of which is recessive to the ovate bracteoles found in both Andean and Middle America. The inheritance of the ovate bracteoles in Andean beans is regulated by a dominant gene. This gene is different from the gene controlling Middle American beans. The bracteoles are useful for characterizing bean germplasms.
