Life history and developmental processes in the basidiomycete Coprinus cinereus
Article Abstract:
Coprinus cinereus, a heterothallic basidiomycete exhibiting an infertile monokaryon and a fertile dikaryon mycelial phenotype has a short life cycle. Research reveals that the developmental stages of the fungus are not clearly defined suggesting an enormous flexibility in its expression at the genetic and physiological levels. Data indicate that the fungus's genome length is about 37, 500 kilobase.

Intra- and intermolecular events direct the propeptide-mediated maturation of the Candida albicans secreted aspartic proteinase Sap1p
Article Abstract:
Results show that secretion of aspartic proteinase Sap1p is dependent on a 12 amino acid residue propeptide. However, under conditions of simultaneous culture of Candida albicans carrying mutated and non-mutated propeptide, limited synthesis of the enzyme occurs suggesting that the recombinant enzyme maturation follows a combination of intra-and inter-molecular pathways.

Fruiting body development in Coprinus cinereus: regulated expression of two galectins secreted by a non-classical pathway
Article Abstract:
Fruiting body of the Coprinus cinereus is regulated by Cgl1 and Cgl2 galectin proteins. The Cgl2 is expressed in the early stages of the fruiting body development and the Cgl1 in the mature fruiting bodies. Galectins are secreted in the extracellular matrix, cell wall, and membranous structures of the cytoplasm.
