Localization and visualization of a Coxiella-type symbiont within the lone star tick, Amblyomma americanum
Article Abstract:
Laboratory reared ticks are used to identify the Amblyomma-associated Coxiella microbe in several types of tissue and at various stages of the life cycle of Amblyomma americanum. Specific fluorescent foci are observed in several tick tissues and bright signals are observed in the granular acini of salivary gland clusters.

Efficient method of cloning the obligate intracellular bacterium Coxiella burnetii
Article Abstract:
An alternative cloning method is developed, which involves excision of individual Coxiella burnetii-laden parasitophorous vacuole (PV) from infected cell monolayers by micromanipulation. It is found that micromanipulation is an efficient and reproducible procedure for obtaining Coxiella burnetii clones.

Highly prevalent Coxiella sp. bacterium in the tick vector Amblyomma americanum
Article Abstract:
The species of Amblyomma americanum ticks are the hosts of Coxiella species. The reduced genome of Coxiella sp. supports its obligatory endosymbiont association with Amblyomma.
