Messing with bacterial quorum sensing
Article Abstract:
Quorum sensing in bacteria is a widely used technique, which is employed to regulate several expressions of specific genes responsible for communal behavior in bacteria by producing numerous quorum-sensing-interfering (QSI) compounds that have a strong influence on the bacteria-signaling network. A study providing certain effective mechanisms for messing with the quorum sensing to avoid pathogenic attacks and hence finding great applications in the fields of drug designing, as well as agriculture and industries, is presented.

Stimulus perception in bacterial signal-transducing histidine kinases
Article Abstract:
A comparative genomics analysis has revealed that the two-component signal-transducing systems, the communication interfaces found in bacteria, consist of several histidine kinases (HKs), which help in the stimulus perception and mediating the cellular response in bacteria. The analysis would be of great help in the classification of HKs according to their input domains and sensing mechanisms and also presents them as the biochemical senses of the bacterial cells.

A fungal family of transcriptional regulators: The zinc cluster proteins
Article Abstract:
The structural and functional domains of zinc cluster proteins and their roles in fungal physiology as well as their modes of action are described. Zinc cluster proteins participate in a wide range of processes including amino acid and vitamin synthesis, carbon and nitrogen metabolism, meiosis, and morphogenesis.
