hMSH3 and hMSG6 interact with PCNA and colocalize with it to replication foci
Article Abstract:
It has been found that hMSH3 and hMSG6 interact with proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). They also go with the antigen to replication foci. PCNA, already implicated in eukaryotic postreplicative mismatch correction, binds to the human mismatch binding factors HMutS(alpha) and HMutS(beta) through their hMSH6 and hMSH3 subunits, respectively. PCNA appears to have a role in repair initiation by guiding the mismatch repair proteins to free termini in the DNA strands that are newly replicated.

Topoisomerase IV, alone, unknots DNA in E. coli
Article Abstract:
Topoisomerase IV, not gyrase, has been found to unknot DNA in Escherichia coli by itself and it is able to access DNA in the cell freely. It is possible now to assign the topological roles of the topoisomerases in E. coli. Clearly they have distinct roles, not overlapping ones. Limitations exist in finding the physiological function of a protein based on sequence similarity or even on biochemical activity in vitro.
