PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis profiling of inter- and intraspecies 18S rRNA gene sequence heterogeneity is an accurate and sensitive method to assess species diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi of the genus Gigaspora
Article Abstract:
An attempt to develop a rapid and reliable method to characterize and identify Gigaspora species is made. The application of a Gigasporaceae-specific PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) strategy for the assessment of Gigaspora diversity in environmental samples is tested.

Isolation, characterization, and transfer of cryptic gene-mobilizing plasmids in the wheat rhizosphere
Article Abstract:
Novel BHR plasmids occur in bacterial populations in the rhizosphere of wheat, which can mobilize IncQ plasmids to different gram-negative bacterial species. These plasmids with gene-mobilizing capacity were isolated from the wheat rhizoshpere with an Escherichia coli IncQ plasmid host and a Ralstonia eutropha recipient. Plasmid pIPO2 was further examined, and was found to have a broad IncQ plasmid mobilization and self-transfer range among the alpha, beta and gamma subclasses of the Proteobacteria, although it did not exhibit productive transfer to gram-positive bacteria.
