Permanent colonization by lactobacillus casei is hindered by the low rate of cell division in mouse gut
Article Abstract:
Probiotic intestinal bacteria have always had positive benefits to the host assisting colonization and study investigated the colonization potential of lactobacillus casei in mouse intestine. It was found that the bacilli would have to achieve doubling time of around two days to colonize different sections of the mouse intestinal tract.

Initiation pf protein synthesis by a labeled derivative of the lactobacillus casei DN-114 001 strain during transit from the stomach to the cecum in mice harboring human microbiota
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to investigate the ability of Lactobacillus casei cells transited from the stomach to the duodenum-jejunum within 1 h postingestion. The findings indicate that ingested L. casei administered through fermented milk has already reinitiated protein synthesis when it reaches the ileal and cecal compartments.

Multilocus sequence typing of Lactobacillus casei reveals a clonal population structure with low levels of homologous recombination
Article Abstract:
Research study is conducted to develop multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme for Lactobacillus casei and to initiate characterization of the population structure of this species. Clear evidence for homologous recombination is found during the diversification of Lactobacillus casei clones.
