Prevalence of obesity and contributing factors among Sherpa women in urban and rural Nepal
Article Abstract:
Residence location was found to be a significant factor in body weight and body mass index for Sherpa women in Nepal. Those living in urban areas demonstrate increases in both body weight and body mass index than those in rural regions, attributable to decreased energy expenditure. This reduction in activity is related to a rise in affluence, access to motorized transportation and the hiring of servants to perform labor.
