Use of long-range repetitive element polymorphism-PCR to differentiate Bacillus anthracis strains
Article Abstract:
A method for differentiating Bacillus anthracis strains is described. Using long-range repetitive element polymorphism PCR, researchers identified one to three DNA fingerprint bands that differentiated between different strains.

Utilization of the rpoB gene as a specific chromosomal marker for real-time PCR detection of Bacillus anthracis
Article Abstract:
Researchers have developed a real-time PCR assay for the bacterium that causes anthrax, Bacillus anthracis. The test identified 144 different strains of B. anthracis from different geographical locations and only cross-reacted with one other Bacillus species out of 175 tested.

Proteomic profiling and identification of immunodominant spore antigens of Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus cereus, and Bacillus thuringiensis
Article Abstract:
An immunoproteomic analysis of the differentially expressed spore antigens of the Bacillus cereus group of bacteria, including Bacillus anthracis, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus thuringiensis was performed for the development of nucleic acid- and immuno-based detection systems and a next-generation anthrax vaccine. Comparative proteomic profiling of the spores also distinguished the different species and the pathogenic from the nonpathogenic strains of the B.cereus group.
