Inhibition of plant-pathogenic fungi by a corn trypsin inhibitor overexpressed in Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
The cDNA of a 14-kDa trypsin inhibitor (TI) from corn was overexpressed in Escherichia coli and the purified active recombinant TI was used in inhibiting various pathogenic fungi of plants. The TI was purified based on its insolubility in urea and then refolded into the active form in vitro. Results indicated that the TI controlled the conidium germination and hyphal growth of nine fungi species including Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus parasiticus and Fusarium moniliforme.

Siderophore production by Pseudomonas stutzeri under aerobic and anaerobic conditions
Article Abstract:
The siderophore production of the facultative anaerobe Pseudomonas stutzeri, strain CCUG 36651, grown under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions is examined. Results reveal that no siderophores are detected from anaerobically grown Pseudomonas stutzeri.
