Reinforced butterfly speciation
Article Abstract:
The butterfly wing pattern are attractive to the naturalists and they play an important role in signalling between potential butterfly mates which means that a change in pattern can lead to the evolution of a new species. A study has shown that closely related butterfly species are more likely to differ in pattern if they life together than if they live in different areas and this provides new evidence that selection can directly lead to an increased isolation, a proces known as reinforcement.

Genetics, development, and paleontology interlock
Article Abstract:
The enamel knot inhibitor, ectodin, an inhibitor of bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) is described and it is shown that expressing ectodin, is critical for proper morphogenesis of mammalian tooth crowns. It is confirmed that the potential of teeth as a model system to synthesize evolutionary biology in a way that Genetics, Paleontology, and Evolution could not.

Genome clashes in hybrids: insights from gene expression
Article Abstract:
The interaction of two divergent genomes or regulatory incompatibilities (RI) gives rise to new phenotypes with novel patterns of gene expression. Examples of such genome clashes evident from genome-scale surveys of gene expression in interspecific hybrids are reviewed.
